Bronxville High School students recently returned from the Princeton Model United Nations Conference (PMUNC), bringing back new skills and a deep understanding of global diplomacy. The 4 day conference gathered hundreds of students from different schools around the country, ranging all the way from Argentina to Nevada and everywhere in between. These students each served as individual delegates representing countries in certain committees that simulated the world of the United Nations.
Preparation for PMUNC began weeks before the trip. Bronxville Model UN Club delegates spent hours researching for their countries, drafting position papers, and learning the conference’s rules and regulations. In weekly meetings, the Model UN club took time to practice public speaking, negotiate resolutions and strengthen their knowledge on global issues to be able to debate well during the conference. Under the phenomenal leadership of Mr. Patmos and cabinet members Margaret Stein, Iris Donovan, Charlotte Dorr, Emerson Dennis, Reese Beldotti, Sean Ahn, and Rishaan Brainch guided all members of the Model UN club and gave briefs to students attending PMUNC for the first time.
Once Bronxville High School students got to Princeton University, students began instant preparation and attended their committee meetings. Between the General Assembly (GA), Specialized, and Crisis Committees, Bronxville students split up and demonstrated great resilience that displayed their confidence and true ability to create solutions and work with other delegates.
Being assigned to IMF, which is the International Monetary Fund Specialized Committee run by Princeton seniors Arjun Singh and Siddhant Jain, was an excellent experience. In this committee, I was a delegate representative of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and focused on topics regarding capital flight in emerging emirates and financing in global energy. My surrounding delegates and Princeton University chairs did an outstanding job on making the meetings enjoyable and ensuring to include everyone.
Other Bronxville High School students who attended PMUNC were juniors Emerson Dennis and Charlotte Dorr who were co-delegates in the ECOFIN General Assembly (GA) Committee. With their excellent chair Kargil Behl and co-chair Arul Shrivastava, Emerson and Charlotte had a great time debating and coming up with ideas/solutions with fellow delegates.
By spending time with each other in between meetings, Bronxville High School students bonded with one another and claimed to have felt truly connected at this event. Princeton University did not disappoint in their hospitality by ensuring there were great lunch options, extracurricular games and social dances outside the committee meetings, making this event truly enjoyable for all.
The PMUNC experience is a particular event that allows students to improve communication skills, make new friends from other schools, and help them understand how diplomacy within the United States truly works. Although Bronxville High School did not win an award this year, the experience and camaraderie was priceless. Our attendees are looking forward to an even stronger performance at PMUNC 2026. Stay tuned for more information on future events and upcoming conferences! Let’s go Broncos!
